Juniors Visit Salem State University

Malden High School staff highly encourages students to have an idea of a field of interest before applying to college. MHS looks to equip students with the tools to decide on a college through taking students on college tours.

On Tuesday, Apr. 12, 2016 members of the junior class visited Salem State University (SSU). SSU is just fifteen miles north of Boston. MHS students were given the opportunity to tour the university and get a sense of what it would be like to attend the school.

Upon their arrival, SSU students spoke of their personal experiences and later opened up the floor for a Q&A with MHS students. Information about financial aid was then presented.

Junior Michelle Perez realized while on the tour “how much people are willing to help you.” She continued, “Everyone at SSU is willing to give their time and help you out.” Junior Mateus Silva explained that “[he] would like to attend to Salem State [because] it's not too far” from Malden and he also “really liked the athletic facility.”

Through touring schools such as SSU, MHS helps to prepare and guide its students for their futures after their time in high school.
