As the United States prepares for a new year full of challenges both foreign and domestic, I think it is appropriate that we marvel at the surprising growth of the US job market in 2015. The Labor Department reports that “the unemployment rate was 5.0 percent for the third month in a row,” for the month of December, and 466,000 more people have been able to find jobs and rejoin the labor force following the recession of 2008. That being said, 2016 is already off to a shaky start, and with the Chinese economy in a downward slope, things may not stay this good for long. Enjoy the success of 2015, but do not forget that there is still work to be done in the new year.
