For the past few weeks, Malden High School’s Play Production has been working on their third and final play of the 2017-2018 school year, Trojan Women.
English Teacher and co-director, Miranda Libkin stated that the play takes place after the fall of Troy and it is “essentially telling the story of what is going to happen to the women of Troy”. Going more in depth she adds that this Greek tragedy lead and caused the death of every man and boy in Troy.
Junior Paige Pimental stated that she is playing “Helen of Troy, who cheats on her husband Menelaus with Paris”. Pimental also mentions that with “all the seniors leaving, they [wanted] to get the juniors and sophomores ready to take [on] big roles next year”
Junior, Michayla Moody said that she is playing the role of Andromache who “is very mature and calculated, everything she does has reason and she is intent on holding herself and everyone else together, when everything is falling apart”. She mentions how she thinks she got the role due to the fact that her “directors wanted to challenge [her] and help [her] improve [her] character range. Moody explains that she is “used to playing super sassy and upbeat roles”.
Trojan Women will be performed May 24th and 25th in the Jenkins Auditorium at 7:00pm.
