Malden Public Library Hosts Perler Bead Craft Event

After its success last year, Malden Public Library decided to host another Perler Bead Craft event. This took place on March 9th from 3 to 4:30 PM, welcoming young people grades 6-12 to create beads with their fresh ideas in the program room. A large collection of materials as well as books were available to support creation. Library events are usually hosted by Patrick Brennan, the information librarian.

This time, Brennan expects people to not just produce crafts completely by themselves, but also recreate them by taking inspiration from the materials that were prepared for participants.

For the procession of the production, people need to use a clip at first to pick up any colors of small plastic beads, and arrange them on a pegboard. Brennan will be responsible for using an iron to melt them together. At the end, they wait 10 to 15 minutes to make the craft form. The process is joyful when making this.

After attending the event, a junior from Malden High School expressed that it was interesting and fun, and said that they “look forward for next time.”

There were fewer participants than most expected, which may be a result of this being the first event of its kind this year. It was much quieter than before; hopefully it will be different next time.

There are many different ways to relax. People find them to relieve themselves from the messes of their own lives. Luckily, the world doesn’t have a lack of entertainment. If you need to take a breather, try making a craft for fun; don’t worry if it is too hard the first time, the emphasis is on having fun. Hopefully, more people will have time to enjoy the creation of perler art. For more information on upcoming events, please explore the Malden Public Library’s events & programs.
