The Malden Public Library is currently starting a Rotating Art Exhibit, hosted by Jen Browning. Browning is ideally looking for local Malden Artists to display their artwork in the exhibit. She hopes to display artwork every month, with one artist for each month.

The library will be accepting artwork until February 14, 2018. The library will be exhibiting many types of artworks, with the 2D models hung in the hallway and the 3D models enclosed in a glass case.

At the moment the exhibit is displaying art from a talented artist by the name of Rod Peterson. Peterson is displaying 9 brilliant pieces of artwork.  The idea for this event came from the library director, Dora St. Martin. Browning stated that “[St. Martin] has been enthusiastic about providing a display space for local artists and the timing was right for us to begin this exhibit.” She also adds that the purpose of this event is “To provide space for local artists to display and promote their work.”

Browning said The library encourages exhibitions and displays of artwork for civic, cultural, educational and recreational purposes. Displaying artwork in the library enhances the library’s environment for patrons and helps to promote local art and artists.”

The library is looking for anything to be displayed, they are promoting any genre or artwork. Browning said “There is not one genre. We will accept all kinds of art, such as paintings, photographs and sculptures” If any local artists want their artwork displayed they can reach Browning by visiting the Malden Public Library, using the number 781-324-0218 or by email, jbrowning@maldenpubliclibrary.org.The library does hope to continue to hosting this event and be able to finish with one artist for each month.

Peterson has great artworks being displayed and I encourage anyone who is interested in art to go and visit his collection at the Malden Public Library. If you have any other questions you can also visit the Rotating Art Exhibit webpage for more information about the Art policy and application requirements.
