Candela Diaz
Candela Diaz, now a sophomore year at Malden High School, is a returning member of the Blue and Gold newspaper. She is looking forward to the hundredth year of the paper and is excited for what is to come of it in this special year. Before coming to Malden, Diaz lived in Uruguay up until the fifth grade. “It was not a difficult adjustment for [Diaz] when [she] came [to Malden] because [she] made friends quickly.” Diaz enjoys spending time with friends as well as watching and playing soccer. Her passion for soccer began at a young age because “[she] grew up watching soccer with [her] family.” She is on the MHS girls soccer team this year and hopes for a successful season. Beside the Blue and Gold Newspaper course, Diaz’s favorite class is Italian. She explained that “[she] know[s] Spanish so Italian, being another Romance language, comes easy to [her].”
