Ruth Jean, born to Haitian parents and a Malden resident of nine years, is a current freshman at Malden High School after attending Linden STEAM Academy. Jean anticipates the opportunity to play lacrosse this spring as her first practiced sport and speaks Creole as her second language; English as her first. Aside from journalism, Jean is taking all of her standard classes and deeply enjoys history as well as English studies. Jean loves taking walks around her neighborhood, is a part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) club, and Malden High School’s Black Student Union (BSU). Jean’s club involvement represents how she values environmental and racial equity, economic equality, gender equality, revising healthcare access, and more! Speaking of healthcare, Jean is passionate about working in the medical field, holding an interest of being a traveling nurse, and looks forward to Journalism this year to improve her public speaking skills.
